Panasonic HDC-SD10K SD Full HD Camcorder - Black

June 23rd, 2009 | Camera & Photo; | No Comments »

Panasonic’s twin-memory HDC-SD10 high-definition camcorder records to an SDHC/SD memory card. It weighs just 0.5 pounds, yet its compact body design has a high-powered 16x optical zoom capabilities and advanced features to produce beautiful 1920 x 1080 Full-HD videos.

The 16x optical zoom of the HDC-SD10 is supported by the Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) function–an essential element to achieve clear zooming, as it minimizes the hand-shake that often impairs video quality while zooming. Panasonic’s Advanced OIS detects and corrects for hand-shake around 4,000 times per second and works with the high-powered optical zoom to produce clear, stable zoom shots. The new Active mode also extends the hand-shake correction range to allow the shooting of clear, crisp images while walking or moving.

As with most Panasonic camcorders, the HDC-SD10 features the iA (Intelligent Auto) function, which automatically sets the most suitable Scene mode according to shooting conditions. These include Advanced O.I.S., Face Detection, which adjusts the exposure so faces are captured perfectly; Intelligent Contrast Control, which helps ensure proper contrast; and Intelligent Scene Selector, which determines the shooting conditions and automatically selects the Scene setting that will provide optimal results. Both camcorders are also equipped with AF/AE Tracking (Auto Focus/Auto Exposure Tracking), which automatically tracks a moving subject for consistently beautiful images. This feature maintains the focus and exposure even if the subject moves or turns to one side.

Panasonic HDC-SD10 Highlights

SDHC/SD Memory Card Recording
The SDHC/SD memory card not only brings significant advantages to smaller and lighter camcorders, but it also differs from a hard-disk drive in that it has no transport mechanism, making it highly shock-resistant and enabling faster recording starts.

Panasonic camcorder highlights
Touch-screen and Handy Function Buttons
A touch screen lets users operate a variety of functions by simply touching an icon displayed on the LCD. This allows intuitive operation without having to look away from the subject.

1.9-sec Quick Power-On
The power turns on and off by opening and closing the LCD. This start-up allows users to save battery power by keeping the power turned off when the camcorder is not in use, while making sure that unexpected shooting opportunities are not lost. The power-saving Eco mode automatically turns the power off when the camcorder is not in use for five minutes.

Pre-Rec
To avoid missing critical shooting opportunities, when the Pre-Rec function is on, the camcorder continuously records three seconds of images into an internal buffer memory. When the Record button is actually pressed, the three seconds immediately prior are added to the beginning of the clip.

Auto Power LCD
This feature automatically adjusts the brightness of the LCD screen according to the shooting conditions.

Built-in Video Light and Flash
The HDC-SD10 is equipped with a video light and flash for convenience when shooting in dimly lit places.

Highlight Playback
This function is for users who want to view recorded images quickly, as “highlights” can be created and played back according to a set time interval.

One-Touch Copy of Videos to DVD and Easy Playback with the BN1 DVD Burner
To avoid the two-step process previously required to save Full-HD videos from an SDHC/SD memory card or built-in memory onto a DVD for playback, the HDC-SD10 features a one-touch function that makes this process easier.

VIERA Link Playback
The HDC-SD10 is compatible with Panasonic’s VIERA Link to allow quick and easy viewing of Full-HD video content, as well as with the VIERA Image Viewer function on a VIERA HDTV. This allows users to play videos on a large screen by simply inserting a recorded SDHC/SD memory card into the SD Card slot of a Panasonic VIERA HDTV. It provides instant playback of video clips recorded in the AVCHD format in Full-HD quality. Similarly, video recordings can be easily played by using a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player.

Able to transition from trimming to edging work with a touch of a button, this 12-inch electric two-in-one yard tool from Black & Decker trims areas after mowing on most 1/3 acre homesites, and edges along garden borders and sidewalks. Powered by two 18-volt NiCad battery packs for longlasting strength and quality performance, the NST2018 is both lightweight and efficient. An AFS system utilizes centrifugal force to instantly advance the line when needed, making this tool easy to operate. Additionally, it cuts more area per charge than any other cordless trimmer currently on the market. As comfortable as it is reliable, the NST2018’s head rotates 180 degrees, a secondary handle you can position for exceptional stability and comfort, and a lock-off switch protects against unintended start-ups. For added convenience, this handy tool comes with two 18-volt batteries and a compatible charger.

From the Manufacturer

No bumping or turning off the motor to hassle with hand feeding string; Black & Decker’s 18-volt cordless string trimmer features the company’s exclusive Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) system that automatically advances cutting string without bumping. By letting centrifugal force feed the trimmer line as it is needed, you get a smooth consistent length of line for optimal performance. Battery-powered, this cordless string trimmer has the capacity to trim grass after mowing for up to a 1/2-acre home site on a single charge of both included 18-volt batteries. Quiet and easy to start, the unit requires no gas, oil, or tune-ups. The Grasshog’s Groom ‘N’ Edge head rotates 180 degrees to convert the trimmer to an edger with a push of a button. When used as an edger, the flip-down edge guide keeps the Grasshog in line with sidewalks and driveways. A secondary handle adjusts for increased comfort and control. A lock-off switch prevents accidental start-ups to ensure safe usage every time. Your purchase includes a trimmer/edger, two 18-volt batteries and a charger. Black & Decker includes a 30-day no-risk satisfaction guarantee and full two-year warranty is provided.

Hoover H3060

April 26th, 2009 | Home & Garden | No Comments »

Hoover H3060 Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum

My house has vinyl tile floors, and I also have 2 dogs that live in-doors (which mean lots of dog furs). I bought the Hoover H3060 FloorMate hoping it will become my “do-it-all” vacuum that will keep my floor spankin clean. It does the washing & scrubbing fairly decent, but you’ll definitely want to get a separate dedicated dry vacuum, especially if you’ve got pets!

Size:
The vacuum is averaged sized, and is not too heavy. Working with the vacuum should be fairly easy and not over tiring. Of course, trying to clean an average sized single family home all at once would be a little much, unless you are just doing a lazy job of making sure your floors are clean.

Built:
The vacuum doesn’t look cheap or flimsy. But I have to say it does feel a little flimsy when moving it around. The unit squeaks quite a bit as you work with it, which makes you feel like something is lose with the unit. But so far nothing actually fell off, so I guess that’s good.

Functionality (Dry):
The Hoover H3060 offers a dry vacuum ability, but it really doesn’t work all that well. The suctioning power is weak, and any pet hair will easily clog the suctioning pathway in the unit. Also, one have to wonder how well it keeps the dirt it has picked up in, since it lacks any good filters to make sure any thing sucked in stays in.

Functionality (Wet):
As a wet vacuum designed to wash, scrub, and dry a non-carpeted floor, the H3060 is fairly good at what it does. You will need to clean fairly slowly to make sure the floor is clean; one quick pass of the vacuum will not do much to clean your floor. This means to clean your entire house, it will take quite a while. Also, don’t expect the floor to be desert dry afterwards, since the floor will be quite damp still after you suck up the water. But seeing your collection tank filled up with black dirty water is a very satisfying experience.

If you have pets in your home, make sure you clean them with a proper vacuum before you begin the washing. Or else the suctioning pathway will quickly clog up, be forewarned.

Accessories:
The vacuum comes with a detail kit that allows you to scrub and clean small areas. They work quite well, and the grout cleaner tool is my favorite. I use it not just for grout lines, but for any area that I deemed worthy of my extra attention.

Things I Like:
- Decent wet cleaning ability
- Clear collection tank that lets you see your progress
- Good accessory set

Things I Don’t Like:
- Horrible dry vacuuming ability
- Easily clogged suctioning pathway
- Did I mention horrible dry vacuuming ability?

Conclusion:
The vacuum was not the “do-it-all” I had hoped for, and the wet cleaning takes a lot longer than I had expected as well. However it does do the washing and scrubbing pretty well, at least better than other wet vacuums I am aware of. If you have pets, definitely make sure you got a good dry vacuum to go along with this.
